How to Get Clients by Building your Email List, Part Three

We have been talking about the best ways to build your email list. The 4 steps are:   

  1. Targeting an audience.
  2. Getting targeted traffic.
  3. A targeted offer.
  4. Targeted follow-up

Today we will talk about having a targeted offer, or free gift, on your website. The best way to do that is to have a “squeeze” or opt-in page where your targeted audience member enters their name and email address in order to get a free gift and to continue receiving emails from you.

You might want to know, how do you set up a good opt-in page? It comes down to an old but well-proven A –B -C formula.

The A is the ‘Automate’. Get them to your opt-in page, tell them about your ethical bribe (free gift) and then tell them how to sign up.

The B is the ‘Bonus/Bribe.’ Your free gift for signing up. You can make it a special report, an audio interview or even a content-rich video. Have a title and graphic picture for it on your opt-in page.

C is your “Call to Action”. This is where you tell them ‘Click Here, Free Instant Access, or Get Your Free Special Report’. And then you give them a clearly marked box to put in their name and email to sign up to your list on your opt-in page.

If you model this type of page, this will give you a good place to start. The techniques for building and maintaining your customer list will evolve and you can never get too complacent because your customers will tell you loud and clear that you need improvement, just by going away, leaving you to hear a lot of silence.
