For Reagan Hayes, interior design was in her blood. Her mother was an interior designer and she had been around the design industry for as long as she could remember. After graduating with a BFA in Interior Design from Harrington College of Design, Reagan pursued a career in interior design. While working in the design industry Reagan noticed a lack of custom friendly lines of furniture with a certain aesthetic and price point. She decided to create her own line and Reagan Hayes, Inc. was born. Through her refined aesthetic and attention to detail she has emerged as one of the design industry’s most accomplished young professionals. Her work has appeared in major shelter publications. Reagan has captured the timeless qualities of classic forms while breathing new life into designs, her style is best described as “Youthful Elegance,”. Reagan currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband and two little boys, Henry and Charlie.
Getting outside. Physically removing myself from obstacles and stress-inducing situations helps me to mentally remove myself as well. I always feel better after a nice stroll around the neighborhood with my boys, and usually come back feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the situation. The kids appreciate it too!
Be discipled about how you divide your time. I often find myself trying to do too many things at once, so it's easy to be a distracted mother and business owner if I don't create boundaries for myself. I try to only check my email during certain times of the day, plan activities outside of the house, and take full advantage of nap time! I keep odd business hours, but it's what I have to do to maintain balance in my personal and professional lives.
The Tory Burch Foundation has been a fantastic resource. Early on in my business, we were fortunate enough to take advantage of this great micro-lending resource for women entrepreneurs. I love how committed the her foundation is to supporting women in business. There are several round-table events held throughout the year where you get to learn from more established business owners and also women who are in the same situation as you. Networking at industry events has also been invaluable. Great collaborate efforts inevitably take place when you have a chance to spend time with other creative minds!
