2009 - Newsletter #3

Fri, 11/09/2012 - 4:26pm | by monicadear E-newsletter

March 23, 2009

Welcome to!

We continue to grow our community, and if you haven't yet connected with us on our Facebook group ( or on our mailing list, I invite you to join us.

Many of the women who have contacted me are looking for ways to truly network, share, and build our community of women supporting women. If you have something you offer, please feel free to share it on our Facebook group. Or, e-mail me and I'll include it in our next quarterly newsletter.

This quarter I invite you to consider what would be valuable to you as you interact with the A Successful Woman community. We are considering implementing more guest articles, additional advertising opportunities, and more ways to highlight you and your own business if you have one.

Our training program began in late January 2009.

For an annual fee of $50 we offer online access to informational mini-lessons and a directory listing on our website (we receive about 2600 unique visitors each month).

Feel free to drop me a line and let me know what you're looking for.

We're glad to support you and I look forward to learning more about you.

Quarterly Winner

This quarter's winner is D Hanna. Please e-mail me your mailing address directly for a gift from our reading library!

Resource Corner

Your Google Results are your new resume.

Have you searched your own name lately on the most popular search engines? Consider that partners, associates, potential donors, sponsors, or hirers will do a search on your name to assess what kind of person you are. They will also review your online portfolio, your profile pages (like at LinkedIn or Twitter) and in general, any information that is posted about you, written by you, or shared with your name tagged.

Have you done a search on yourself?

Do an IMAGE search, too:

If you find offensive content (or potentially damaging content), politely ask the poster to remove. Alternatively, take control of your own online identity by posting more information and pictures about yourself (so you "own" the listings that are related to you).

Do you want to share a helpful resource?

Send your information to: info (at) asuccessfulwoman (dot) com

Talk Back

I'd like your ideas on ways we can build a community and communicate person to person.

I'm concerned about privacy as well as about the proliferation of e-mail, spam, and marketing messages that sometimes take hold of websites.

However, I do know that a well-managed forum, discussion board, or member's corner acts as a wonderful, engaging, and potentially profitable resource corner.

What are your thoughts?

Would you like more member-to-member access with others in the community?

What does that look like to you? We are considering setting up an internal social network for member-to-member introductions.

Would you be willing to pay a nominal fee for monthly access? If so, does $12 - $30/year sound reasonable?

If you are not willing to pay a nominal fee, would you be open to viewing advertising on an internal social network?

To Do Today

Accountability is key.

When we have goals, it is usually accountability that helps us achieve them.

What is your goal for the year? Because we are a quarter of the way through, you are probably a quarter of the way to attaining your chosen goal.

If you're not yet there, consider reassessing what you want to accomplish or how you determine what success is.

This may be related to:

health and wellness

new habits

peace of mind

What is your goal for 2009 and have you declared it in a public place? Once you invite others to help you reach your goals, you will have more opportunity to reach those goals.

Quote of the Moment

"Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." -Harriet Tubman

Parting Thoughts

I recently completed Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth"  which is a powerful and fascinating book about being completely present and witnessing the Consciousness that exists within you.

Here is one of his thoughts about living in the Now:

"Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have.

Make the Now the primary focus of your life....

Through allowing, you become what you are; vast, spacious. You become whole. You are not a fragment anymore, which is how the ego perceives itself. Your true nature emerges, which is one with the nature of God"
