Thinking Beyond your Timeframe
Wed, 11/23/2011 - 12:45am | by monicadearI always like to think of myself in the moment, here, today -- as a "bridge" between the me of yesterday and the me of the future. Every day that I inch along, I am evolving away from the person I used to be and I am embodying more of the person I am becoming: today is a day where I bridge the gap, where I bring myself simultaneously away from my past self and closer to my future self.
Seven Signs You've Committed to Success
Thu, 04/14/2011 - 2:56am | by monicadearCommitting to success takes the form of seven very important truths.
1) Your success becomes legitimate in your own mind.
By truly committing to success, you move from treating your endeavor from being a hobby, side project, or nights-and-weekends thing to truly treating it as a legitimate, professional, straight and clear path.
Plenty of people have similar goals (write a book, run a marathon, travel the world, become financially free) but the difference between someone committed and someone dabbling is that the person who is committed will actually achieve that goal, whereas the person who is not committed will still have this item on their wish list years later.
Everything Starts with a Vision
Mon, 03/28/2011 - 11:59am | by monicadearEverything begins with a vision.
The tools you use in your everyday life, the computer program you use to access the Internet, the food that you choose in the grocery store, the products you use in your medicine cabinet, the kitchen appliances, the vehicles you use for transportation, the bag you use to carry items from one place to another, even the music, films, or live performances that entertain you --- these all originated out of someone's vision.
Focusing your Vision with a Good Pair of Glasses
With my middle-aged eyes, I find that I require a much larger font size in my books, electronic screens, and cell phones. I also need my glasses if I want to review anything in detail for my work as a web developer -- no more miniscule teeny-weeny fonts on artistic websites for me anymore.
I replace my glasses about every 2-3 years, depending on how much wear and tear on the frames and lenses. In the past, the entire replacement process could cost from $300 - $400 for two sets of frames. My most recent eye exam also required me flying off-island -- certainly not a green, clean, or inexpensive option for the full exam, frames, fitting, and extras like scratch resistance.
Creating a Vision for the Planet
Wed, 10/20/2010 - 3:43am | by monicadear"The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing." - Stephen R. Covey
When we develop and refine a clear vision for ourselves, we have a higher capacity of achieving that vision. When we're uncertain and cloud our thinking, our clarity of vision dissipates and we ourselves become less effective.
For example, if you have a project to do but an unclear idea about resources, process, outcomes, or deliverables, I promise that your end project will be unclear, unfocused, and undefined. However, with a laser-like focus on what the end result is to be, you work smoothly and efficiently from one end (pre-visioning) to the other end (final delivery), knowing that you're on the right track.
